On the 17th September 2007, the Manor Hotel, Blackpool suffered a severe fire which
resulted in the death of a guest.
During the course of the subsequent investigations, several breaches of the Fire Safety Order were identified including:
- a failure to carry out a suitable & sufficient fire risk assessment;
- a failure to maintain the fire alarm system
- inadequate fire separation
- lack of staff fire safety training
The Court accepted guilty pleas on 4 counts from Mr Nicholas Danby, owner of the Manor Hotel, in relation to the above failures and sentencing took place at Preston Crown Court on 17th July 2009.
Judge Baker sentenced Mr Danby to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years and also placed Mr. Danby under a curfew order.
